1933-2025

Robert Loughley of Wellsville passed away after a brief illness at the Orchards of East Liverpool Rehabilitation Center on Monday, Feb. 3, 2025.

Bob died at the age of 91. He was born in Chester, W.Va., on Dec. 28, 1933, the son of the late George and Estella Norris Loughley. Like most men of his generation, Bob had an impeccable work ethic. He retired from Crucible Steel, went back to work at J&L Steel, and upon retirement, returned to work again at J&L as a consultant. Bob was raised in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and graduated from Chester High School. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.

Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, and attending the Crucible Retiree’s Breakfast. He was also a proud member of the American Legion.

Along with his parents, his wife, Thelma Gatrell Loughley, and his son, James L. Loughley, preceded him in death.

Left with cherished memories are his daughter, Diana Burns of East Liverpool; his son, Robert W. Loughley of Wellsville; his grandchildren, Amber (Jordan) Hunt of Green, Robert (Emily) Loughley Jr. of Columbus, Jenna (Curt) Humphrey of Columbus, Matt Loughley of East Palestine, James Loughley Jr. of Cleveland, and Amy Brown of South Carolina; his great-grandchildren, Andrew and Leo Hunt, Amelia and Lucy Loughley, and Maddox and Kiera Humphrey.

Pastor Dirk Hall will celebrate Bob’s life at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Friday, Feb. 7, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at the Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit with his family at the funeral home on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
