Francis Eileen Bush
1926-2024
Our mother Francis Eileen Bush, recently a resident of Copeland Oaks in Sebring, Ohio and a long-time resident of Wellsville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2024. She lived a long and happy 98 years.
Born June 4, 1926 in Akron, Ohio to French and Edna Pletcher, she and her 4 brothers grew up in Tallmadge, Ohio. She attended Kent State University where she met our father, Willam L. Bush, with whom she was married for 60 years until our father passed. They married on June 4, 1946 in Tallmadge and lived briefly in Ypsilanti, Michigan where she worked for the Willow Run Aircraft factory. In 1951 they moved to Wellsville, Ohio where they raised 6 children and our father practiced law for 50 years. Mom helped our father early in his practice serving as secretary. Eileen later attained a masters degree in education from Youngstown State and taught business office education at Wellsville High School for 19 years.
Eileen was a long-standing member of the First United Methodist Church of Wellsville, and enjoyed singing in the church choir and Methodist Conference choirs. She loved music and the arts, serving as a long-time member of the Wellsville Arts Club and along with our father was founding member of the Community Concerts program that brought a variety of musical performances to the Wellsville & East Liverpool area.
She was an avid reader with a great interest in history and served as an energetic member of the Wellsville Historical Society, having researched and complied a large contribution to the City’s historical records. Right up to the end of her life she remained curious about the world and history of all kinds, particularly history of her family.
We remember her as a very kind, compassionate, and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who lived an extraordinary life raising a family, loving our father, and serving her community. She loved flowers and continued to care for her plants right up to the end.
Eileen is preceded in death by her husband William Bush, daughter Mary Bush, and brothers William Pletcher and Leslie Pletcher. She is survived by her 6 children: David Bush (Gretchen) of Ashburn, VA; Eric Bush of Cambridge, MA; Mark Bush of Fremont, OH; Miriam Bush Bunner (Charles) of Richmond, IN; Melinda Bush Potts (Dan) of Savannah, GA; and Andrew Bush (Marion Trapolino) of Austin, TX; 12 grandchildren (Benjamin Bush, Michael Bush, Alexa Bush Billi, Mariah Bush, Travis Bunner, Archer Bunner, Trevor Bunner, Justin Potts, Jordan Potts, Jenny Potts Thanepohn, Jandy Potts Anderson, and Jude Bush), 14 great-grandchildren (Brooklyn Potts, Hadley Potts, Everly Potts, Henry Bunner, Verity Bunner, Truman Bunner, Thomas Bush, Robert Bush, William Bush, Edward Bush, Anna Billi, Avery Billi, Joshua Thanepohn, and Mason Anderson); and her brothers James Pletcher and George Pletcher.
