John W. Talbot

1961-2024

John W. Talbot, 63, of Wellsville, passed Tuesday, April 23, 2024. He was a beloved father, husband, brother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Born Jan. 14, 1961, in Fort Belvoir, Va., he was the son of the late William and Betty DeSarro Talbot.

John was a graduate of East Liverpool High School Class of 1980. He was formerly employed at the Sammis Power Plant in Stratton. John was best known for his golfing abilities. He was formerly the head golf coach at East Liverpool High School. The focus of his life was teaching and coaching young people and helping them reach places they may not have been able to themselves. As an educator, coach and mentor John was able to leave a lasting impression through the many lives he touched over the years. The boys he coached in high school always held a special place in his heart and he loved seeing them be successful and happy in their adult lives. His true pride and joy was his daughter, Brooke. John's greatest accomplishment in life was being her Dad. He loved nothing more than watching her grow and celebrate her accomplishments, no matter how big or small.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Shelly Short Talbot, whom he married June 20, 2015; daughter, Brooke Talbot of Wellsville; stepdaughter, Paige (Bob) of Wellsville; stepson, Brandon (Kayla) of Calcutta; grandchildren, Aurora, Shayne and Bobby; and siblings, Kim, Anette, and Mary; many nieces, nephews, many cousins and two special cousins who were more like brothers to him, Frank and Scott DeSarro, and all of his golfing buddies. John will also be missed by his constant companion and eating buddy, Ace.

Pastor Mark Blakeley will celebrate John's life Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at the Arner Funeral Chapel at 6 p.m. Friends may visit two hours before the service for a memorial visitation from 4 to 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers take a kid golfing and introduce them to the game he loved so much.
