Samuel E. ‘Sam’ Johnson

1962-2024

EAST LIVERPOOL - Samuel E. "Sam" Johnson, of East Liverpool, passed away peacefully Monday morning, Jan. 29, 2024, at his home. He was 61.

Born in East Liverpool July 24, 1962, he was a son of the late Iva Johnson Watkins and was also raised by his grandparents, Samuel and Helen Johnson. He was a member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1981 and at one time worked at Homer Laughlin, Mountaineer and McKinney's Furniture. Sam was a man of great faith and was an active member of the Destiny House where he served on the Advisory Board and had been a youth leader for several years. He loved to share his story of faith with others and what God had done in his life.

Above all things in life, Sam loved and adored his family. He is survived by his wife, Lisa A. Johnson, whom he married Sept. 30, 2000. Together they have a son, Samuel E. Johnson II and his wife, Victoria, and their son, Samuel E. Johnson III, who resides at home. A daughter survives, Jessica Barker of Newell, and her children Nathan and Liam Campbell.

Also left to cherish his memory are his brothers and sister, Junior Watkins, Clara "Sissy" Price (Becky), Albert Watkins (Patty), and Alvin Watkins (Tara), as well as his mother- and father-in-law, Gary and June Farnsworth, and two sisters-in-law, Patricia Farnsworth (Chelsea) and Carolyn Stanley (Dan), and many nieces and nephews.

Pastor Court Riddle of the church will conduct a funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Destiny House. Friends may visit two hours prior to the service at the church. The Dawson Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the church for fellowship.
