Robert S. "Bob" Porter, passed away on Feb. 16, 2024, at East Liverpool City Hospital. He was born on April 4, 1955, in East Liverpool, the son of the late John E. and Alta Daisy (Newlen) Porter. Bob was 68 years old at the time of his passing.
Bob dedicated many years to his work, serving as the Dairy Manager at Walmart in Salem, Ohio. Beyond his professional life, he had a variety of interests. He enjoyed spending time outdoors with his wife during the warm months, surfing the internet, and watching television. However, his greatest joy came from creating lasting memories with his beloved wife and family.
Bob was a member of the Wellsville High School Class of 1973 and continued his education at Kent State University in 1991, later pursuing further studies at Youngstown State University in 1995. Throughout his life, Bob was actively involved in the community. He was a proud member of the Glenmoor Fire Department for 20 years, where he held the position of captain for several years. Even at the time of his passing, he remained affiliated with the department.
Bob was reunited in death with his parents and siblings: John, James, and Willis Porter, Barb Dawson, Carol Fae Porter, Gertrude Porter, and Jean Byers. He was also preceded in death by his dear fur baby Abby Rose who brought him many years of dedicated companionship
Bob is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Beth A Gochenour Porter, whom he married on June 11, 1977. Bob and Beth spent the next 46 years making special memories together. He is also survived by his sister, Joyce Murphy; brother-in-law, Ronald Gochenour; sister-in-law, Vickie Gochenour, and brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Debbie Bayer; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as his fur baby, ToToe.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Martin Chapel of Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists in Calcutta. The funeral will take place following visitation at 7 p.m. Bob will be laid to rest on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024 at noon at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
During his time on earth, Bob touched the lives of many with his kindness, dedication, and love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
