Larry Simmons Sr.

Larry Simmons Sr., 77, of Newell, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, at Weirton Medical Center.

Born Feb. 1, 1947 in East Liverpool, Ohio, he was the son of the late Hughie and Eula (Stover) Simmons Sr.

Larry was a retired pumper from Quaker State/Ergon and a member of the Chester/Newell Sportsman Club and the NRA.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Ann Simmons, a brother and sister-in-law, Hughie (Jo) Simmons Jr., and a sister, Kathy Deitch.

Surviving are his wife, Linda (Sayers) Simmons of Newell; a son, Larry (Valarie) Simmons Jr. of Missouri and two grandchildren, Lucas and Nathaniel and a brother-in-law, Mark Deitch of Virginia; several nieces and nephews; and by his canine companion “Jill.”

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from noon until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. at the Nixon Funeral Home, Newell, West Virginia.

Family request donations be made to the Newell Volunteer Fire Department in Larry’s name.
