Maria C. ‘Mary’ Fricano

1940-2024

Maria C. "Mary" Fricano, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully in her residence on Jan. 22, 2024.

Maria was born on May 4, 1940, in East Liverpool, the daughter of the late Michael A. and Mary T. (Mendicino) Ferlaino. She attended St. Aloysius Elementary School as a young child and graduated from East Liverpool High School with the Class of 1958.

Maria, a woman of grace and beauty, lived a life filled with love and devotion. With a strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to her family and her faith, she excelled as the office manager of A S Fricano & Co CPA and also as the manager of Fricano Rental LLC.

Maria's passion for her faith and service to others was evident in her active involvement in various organizations. She was a valued member of Holy Trinity Parish, where she dedicated her time as President of Catholic Women Study and played a pivotal role as one of the original founders and organizers of the prayer line. Additionally, she was a member of the East Liverpool Quota Club, Helen Gould, and also belonged to the Memory Lane Dance Club. She loved decorating, music, dancing, and baking cookies using recipes from Italy. Of all of the enjoyment in her life, Maria was most content when she was surrounded by her family.

On July 5, 1958, Maria married the love of her life, Alfred Fricano, and together they embarked on a journey that spanned 65 beautiful years. Their love and devotion were an inspiration to all who knew them.

Maria will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Alfred S. Fricano; her children: Salvatore "Sam" (Elena) Fricano, of Manhattan, N.Y., Antonina (Thomas) Swiger, and Mary Teresa (William) Todd, both of East Liverpool; grandchildren: Zachary (Caitlin) Hopper, Michael (Megan) Hopper, William Todd, Alfred Todd, Mia Fricano, and Yana Fricano; great-grandchildren: Cormac, Maeve, and Gabriella Hopper. Maria will also be missed by her brother, John B. Ferlaino, of Austintown, and her sister-in-law Marie Dippolito, of Warren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Martin Chapel of Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists in Calcutta. Mass of Christian burial celebrated by Rev. Leo J. Wehrlin will take place on Friday, January 26, 2024 at noon at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in East Liverpool. Maria will be laid to rest in Riverview Cemetery.
