Melvin "Mel" Harris, 83, of East Liverpool passed at his home, Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023.
Born Nov. 29, 1940, in East Liverpool, he was the son of the late Melvin Lee and Hilda Meeks Harris.
He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Cynthia Harris, and recently his great-grandson, Nathan Severs.
He attended East Liverpool High School and he was a proud Marine Corps veteran. He later retired after 43 years as a Boilermaker out of Pittsburgh Local #154.
At an early age, Mel was known as "Doodle Bug" because he was fascinated with a Caboose named Doodle Bug. He had many interests during his life such as motorcycling, boating and especially antique cars. Mel was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Nascar fan.
Mel will be deeply missed by the love of his life, Patty; son, Rick Harris and his wife Janine; daughters, Mellissa Nentwick and husband Craig, Annette Crow and her husband Matt and Larissa Severs and her husband Rick; brother, Don Harris; sisters, Cathy Unitis, Sondra Poole and Marylou Bernstein of Florida; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 22, 2023, at Arner Funeral Chapel from 2 to 6 p.m. Fellowship will follow at the Glenmoor American Legion.
