EAST LIVERPOOL - Mary Josephine Landfried Hoschar Wolf of East Liverpool passed away Tuesday morning, Sept. 5, 2023, at her home. She was 91.
Born in East Liverpool Oct. 23, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Fred W. "Magee" and Matilda Marian "Tillie" Reischman Landfried. A resident of this area all her life, she was a faithful member of the Holy Trinity Parish at St. Aloysius Church where she was a member of the choir and a Eucharistic minister. A member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1950, she was a cheerleader and remained an avid Potters sports fan and season ticket holder for the rest of her life. She was also associated with TOPS. She loved to bake and cook for her family and friends and won a contest with the Evening Review. Above all things in life, Mary was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and soon to be a great-great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Shaler "Stink" Hoschar, Oct. 2, 1966. She later married Richard Keith "Dick" Wolf and together they raised nine children. Dick passed away Sept. 19, 2021. Mary was also preceded by a son, James Joseph Hoschar; a great-grandchild, Cori Webster; a sister, Dolores Marie "Dee" Sullivan; and two brothers, Richard Frederick "Dick" Landfried and Vincent Dale Landfried.
Survivors include six daughters, Fran Carpenter and her husband, Donn, of South Lebanon, Ohio, Joan Juszczak and her husband, John, of East Liverpool, Lisa Cunningham and her husband, Ron, of East Liverpool, Monica Baugh and her husband, Jim, of Upper Arlington, Kerrianne Wolf of Columbus, and Erika Ferraco and her husband, Michael, of Colorado, and two sons, Philip Hoschar and his wife, Linda, of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and Rick Hoschar and his wife, Ann, of Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
In addition, she leaves behind 18 grandchildren, Aaron Hoschar, Elaine Smiley, Alex Scott, Lee Alverson, Lauren Webster, Emmy Richardson, Matthew Hoschar, Beth Hoschar, Emily Hoschar, Andrew Juszczak, Christopher Juszczak, Jacob Cunningham, Allie Leidner, Ben Cunningham, James Baugh, Kyle Baugh, Aspen Ferraco and Zachary Ferraco; and 19 great-grandchildren, Drew, Sean, Nolan, Jacob, Abigail, Kelsey, Janie, Paul, Eddie, Scarlett, Darcy, Charly, Laney, Logan, Theo, Hazel, Elsie, Evelyn and Oliver.
The family wishes to thank Carol and Christina at ABC Care, the staff of AKESO Hospice, and dear family friend Lea Walker Adkins.
Family and friends may visit Friday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Father Leo Wehrlin will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish at St. Aloysius Church. Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center.
