Martha E. Underwood
1934-2023
EAST LIVERPOOL -- Martha E. Underwood, a beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully Sept. 18, 2023, the Calcutta Health Care Center following a lengthy illness. She was 89.
Born Jan. 17, 1934, in West Union, West Virginia, Martha was the cherished daughter of the late Emory and Phyllis Nutter Rollins.
Martha spent her life as a dedicated homemaker, creating a nurturing environment for her family. She was a faithful member of Boyce Church. She also held membership in the Crystal Chapter 18 of the Order of Eastern Star, where she formed many cherished friendships and contributed to the community with her kind and friendly nature.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Underwood, and her sister, Janice Smith.
Martha's legacy of love and warmth lives on through her devoted son, Kevin I. Underwood, and his wife, Carrie (McFarland), of Ashland, Massachusetts, and her two adored grandchildren, Mackenzie "Mac" Underwood and Grace (Underwood) Stephenson.
Rev. Alvin Talkington will conduct a funeral service Monday, Oct. 2, at noon at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit beginning at 9 a.m. A private burial will be at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell.
