EAST LIVERPOOL -- Korrine "Hoppy" Parson, 72, of St. George Street passed away Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023 at 3:35 p.m. at the Valley Oaks Care Center following a lengthy illness.
Born April 7, 1951 in East Liverpool, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late John Francis Smith and the late Margery D. Pickard Smith Wolf.
A methodist by faith, she was employed by the former Crucible Steel Company in Midland, Pennsylvania until its closing in 1982. She then moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she managed four Steak & Shake stores. In 1990 she moved back to this area and began working for J&L Steel in Midland working there until her retirement.
Survivors include her husband, Brent Parson, whom she married 40 years ago, at home. There is one daughter, Mindy Tompkins of Columbus, Ohio; and one son, Mark Springer of Chester, Virginia.
There are four grandchildren, Marky Tompkins, Trivele Tompkins, Brice Springer and Chase Springer; and two great-grandchildren, Kiron Tompkins and Marley Kay Tompkins.
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by one stepson, Larry B. Parson; three sisters, Patricia Anderson, Becky Bebout and Margery "Sue" Jones; and by one brother, Frank Charles "Chuck" Smith.
According to Hoppy's wishes there will be no public visitation or service.
The Dawson Funeral Home is in charge of all local arrangements.
