Karl T. Fife

1952-2023

Karl T. Fife, a dedicated public servant and beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully at his home in East Liverpool, Ohio, Sept. 19, 2023 after a lengthy illness. Karl was born on May 25, 1952 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to the late Sarah F. Burgess Fife and Carl B. Fife. At the time of passing he was 71 years old.

Karl proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was honored with the national defense service medal, rifle expert badge, and good conduct medal. These accolades were a testament to his unwavering commitment to his country and his duty.

Karl's professional journey began as a police officer with the Davie Florida Police Department, Ridgeland Florida Police Department and he retired from the Beaufort South Carolina Police Department after 25 years of service in 1997 were he received 53 commendations working his way through the ranks to detective sergeant. Karl then moved to Ohio to be near family. He continued to serve his community in various roles, including the East Liverpool City parking grievance officer and zoning officer for over 15 years until his well-deserved retirement. Karl continued to serve on the East Liverpool zoning board of appeals until his death.

Beyond his dedication to his work, Karl found solace and joy in his musical talents. He began serving his first role as a director of choir at the age of 16 years old in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He found great joy in running youth music camps and serving in numerous positions, including youth choir director and bell choir director, in both Port Royal, South Carolina and Hilton Head Island. Karl continued his passion of music in East Liverpool at the First Church of Christ Disciples, where he faithfully attended and played the piano and directed choirs for over 20 years, including this past Sunday. His commitment and passion for music brought comfort and inspiration to those around him.

Karl was proceeded in death by one brother, John Fife, who shared the same music passion.

Karl will be deeply missed by his cousins and their extended families with his many friends, colleagues and church family who have been touched by his kindness, generosity and unwavering dedication. He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, resilience and service that will be remembered by all who knew him.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Martin Chapel of Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists in Calcutta, Ohio. Services officiated by Pastor Willard Charles Adkins will follow the visitation at 5 p.m. The Tri-State Burial Group will accord full Military Honors. A private burial will take place at the Columbiana County Memorial Park, where Karl will find eternal rest alongside his beloved parents.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly request donations be made to a charity of your choice in Karl's memory with the emphasis of his dedication to law enforcement, music and church.

We cherish the memories we shared with Karl and take solace in knowing that he is now at peace, may he find eternal joy and rest in the presence of his loved ones who have gone before him.
