William ‘Bud’ Shuman

1936-2023

William "Bud" Shuman, 87, of Chester, passed away August 17, 2023.

Bud was born January 18, 1936 in Newell, WV, he was the son of the late Cleveland and Lela (Gallaher) Shuman.

He formerly worked for Globe Brick in Maintenance and for Mountaineer Golf Course as a Greens Keeper.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Church) Shuman; a son, Billy Shuman, son-in-law, Tim Eddy; two brothers, Cliff and Carl Shuman and two sisters, Rosetta Tice and Jean Richmond.

Bud is survived by his loving family, a son, Steve (Tammy) of Chester; four daughters, Brenda (Bill) Kell of Chester, Debbie (Rachel) Shuman of Virginia, Becky (Marshall) Atkinson of Chester and Sandi Eddy of Virginia; Karen Temple his partner for life of Chester; three-stepchildren, Michelle (Tom) Ralston of Pa. Jamie Temple of WV and Jocelyn Temple of Chester. Eleven grandchildren, Ashley, Erin (Doug), Allen (Sarah), Billy, Nicole (Logan),Taylor, Cortney (Paul) ,Tyler (Allyson), Miranda (Ernie), T.J.(Sophie), Hannah (Brooke); six step- grand-children, Hailee (Kevin), Devon, Whitney, Mallory, Callie, and Connor; sixteen great-grandchildren , one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Doris Carter of Lisbon and Patty Zeigler of Salem.

Bud loved to golf, fish, bowl and coach and also was a Steeler, Pirates and WVU sports fan. Bud never met a stranger that he didn't have a story to tell.

Above all his passion was his family. He loved spending time, joking, laughing and loving each and every member and making memories telling his stories.

He will be sadly missed by all.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 20, from 6-8 p.m. and Monday, August 21, 2023, from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at Nixon Funeral Home, 614 Washington St., Newell.

Interment will follow in Shadow Lawn Memory Garden, Newell, WV.
