Alma P. Martin

1934-2023

Alma P. Martin, 89, of Hammondsville passed away Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023 at Trinity West Hospital in Steubenville.

Alma was born in Wellsville, Ohio March 10, 1934, the daughter of the late Harry and Ida (McWilliams) Smith, and lived in the area her entire life.

Alma dedicated herself to caring for others as a home health aide for Ohio Valley Home Health Center for 15 years. Her passion for serving others extended beyond her professional life, as she found great joy in taking care of her beloved family. Alma's life was marked by love, dedication and a selfless spirit. Her impact on the lives she touched will continue to be felt and treasured by those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Floyd Hooper of Irondale, Kenneth Hooper of St. George, S.C., Donna Fraley of Orangeburgh, S.C., Mary Forester of Irondale and Judy Wzeboroski of Mingo Junction. She is also survived by her two sisters, Mary Gallagher of Arkansas and Carolyn Thomas of Florida. Alma also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Martin, whom she married June 7, 1972.

Private family visitation with private graveside services have been arranged. The MacLean Chapel of Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists have been entrusted with arrangements.
