EAST LIVERPOOL - Kenneth L. Schneidmiller, Sr., lifetime resident of East Liverpool, passed away Saturday morning, July 22, 2023, at Crossroads at Beaver Creek. He was 94.
Born in East Liverpool, September 21, 1928, he was a son of the late Henry and Christine Hetzel Schneidmiller. He attended East Liverpool High School where he was active on the baseball team and choir - both became passions that continued throughout his life. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Upon returning from the miliary, Ken worked as a mechanic at Litton Motors. He later worked at Crucible, Titanium Metals and Quaker State where he retired. During his retirement years, he remained active and worked at the Dawson Funeral Home and loved to play golf.
Ken was a member of the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church where he served as a board member, deacon, elder and choir member. He also attended the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church. He was a past member of the Glenmoor and LaCroft Volunteer Fire Departments as well as the Calcutta Volunteer Fire Department where he was chief at one time. Ken loved to sing, as did many of his family members. He was a founding member of the East Liverpool Messiah Choir. He married the love of his life, Mary E. Graham Schneidmiller, on October 20, 1954. Mary preceded him in death on March 11, 2018. Together they raised three loving children: two daughters, Beth Weir and her husband, Tommy, and Gretchen Winland and her husband, Kenny, and one son, Kenneth L. "Kenny" Schneidmiller, Jr., all of East Liverpool.
Ken cherished his grandchildren, Tatum Stowers and her husband, Alex, and Logan Winland, and loved his great-granddaughters, Kaseea and Kenlee Stowers. He is also survived by a sister, Barbara Stevens of Chester, and a brother, Pastor Thomas Schneidmiller, and his wife Carol, of East Liverpool, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ken was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Amy Rose Schneidmiller, four brothers, Henry "Bus" Schneidmiller, Henry "Dudy" Schneidmiller, Teddy Schneidmiller and William Schneidmiller, and two sisters, Ruth Kindsvatter and Christine Collins.
Family and friends may visit Thursday evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to the service. Rev. Greg Mead will conduct a funeral service Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will conduct military honors.
Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
