EAST LIVERPOOL -- Kenneth E. Walker, of East Liverpool, passed away at his home Saturday, July 8, 2023. He was 97.
Bon in Wick, West Virginia, July 17, 1925, he was a son of the late Vernon R. and Ruby Mae Stevens Walker. A resident of this area most of his life, he was a World War II veteran where he served with the U.S. Army. He worked most of his career at Globe Refractories in maintenance until retiring after 33 years of service. He was a member of the LaCroft Church of the Nazarene and a life member of the DAV.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby P. Brewer Walker. The couple married July 21, 1945. He was also preceded by a daughter, Sharon Lyn Walker Smith, three sisters, Virginia Mehaffey, Zelma Trowbridge and Imogene Potts, and four brother, Stanley Walker, Denzil Walker, Ernie Walker and Vernon Walker, Jr.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Klebanow of East Liverpool, and two sons, Kenneth "Bob" Walker and his wife, Carol Sue, of Calcutta and Roger Allen Walker and his wife, Janet, of East Palestine, as well as seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit Wednesday evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 6-8 p.m. Rev. Gary LeMasters will conduct a funeral service Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Locust Hill Cemetery where the Chester VFW/American Legion Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
