EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO - Barbara J. Howard, 85, of East Liverpool passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023 at her home with her family by her side.
Barbara was born in East Liverpool on May 20, 1938 a daughter of the late Floyd and Clarice (Six) Buxton. She was a graduate of East Liverpool High School class of 1957. Barbara worked at Thorofare Grocery Store then at Tad Motors for 20 years as a title clerk and cashier until her retirement in 1990. She volunteered at the snack bar at East Liverpool City Hospital and was a member of the Red Stocking Review. She enjoyed making ceramics and giving them as gifts to family and friends. Barbara loved telling everyone stories about her bees and how she would get stung to help her fight the symptoms of MS for the last 36 years. She was a member of Card Club and Elks in her younger days. Barbara was a devoted wife, mom, me-maw and great me-maw that loved spending time with her grandkids.
Preceding Barbara in death were her grandson, whom she adopted and raised, Jason Howard; three sisters Allana Cline, Ann Davis and Florena Wolfe and three brothers Ray, Phillip and Robert Buxton.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 68 years, whom she married August 6, 1955, Lorin F. Howard, Jr.; three daughters Stephanie Kohler, Lori Glaze and her husband Thomas and Lisa Nentwick and her husband Danny; son Perry Howard; five grandchildren Heather Stone and her husband Caleb, Matthew Rogers and his wife Amanda, Daniel Nentwick and his wife Erica, Evan Nentwick and Nathan Howard and eight great grandchildren.
Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Tuesday where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Pastor Norm Eckert of Beechwood Free Methodist Church will conduct a service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Burial at Calcutta Cemetery.
