WELLSVILLE - Jonathan Stokes, of Wellsville, formerly of East Liverpool, passed away Tuesday morning, May 23, 2023, at Caprice Health Care Center following a lengthy illness. He was 52.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, October 9, 1970, a son of Beverly Wilson Stokes and the late Curtis Stokes. A member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1989 where he was a member of the football team and for many years he was the dietary manager at Campus Health Care Center and Calcutta Health Care Center. Jonathan was best known for being a volleyball coach and a mentor to countless area youth. He was the Wellsville High School head volleyball coach and also coached for Mintonette Sports premiere volleyball club. Previously, he coached at East Liverpool High School. Above all things in life, Jonathan loved his three daughters and taught them not only volleyball skills but also instilled in them great qualities to be successful in life.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Sherrie Allen, at home, and three daughters, Johnna Stokes, Skye Stokes, and Presley Stokes, and a son, Sheldon Hunt. He also will be sadly missed by his two brothers, Curtis Stokes and his wife, Vickie, and Jason Stokes and his wife, Megan.
Rev. Joseph Cilone will conduct a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Friday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit two hours prior to the service.
