Sarah A. ‘Sally’ Smith-Ferry
1947-2023
IRONDALE – Sarah Alice “Sally” Smith-Ferry, 75, of Irondale, passed away Monday, April 24, 2023, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born May 4, 1947, in Wellsville, the daughter of the late Samuel Thomas and Mabel Lucille (Jarvis) McCullough. In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death on March 20, 2012, by her first husband, James G. Smith, Jr., whom she married February 13, 1965, and on October 13, 2020, by her second husband, Glenn Ferry. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Joann Howell; and one brother, William Thomas McCullough.
Sally attended Wellsville High School. She was previously employed as a dipper at the former Sterling China Company, and also at many local stores. She and her husband, Jim, previously owned J &S Pizza Shop on Main Street in Wellsville. Sally liked to spend her time crocheting, baking, and loving on her little best friend, her dog, Chloe. Above all else, her favorite times were spent with her family and grandchildren. Sally will truly be missed by all those whose lives she touched here on Earth.
Survivors include one daughter, Paula (Mike) Cole of Tipp City, OH; two sons: Jason (Jody) Smith of Irondale and James Smith of East Liverpool; one step-daughter, Bridget Lease of Irondale; three sisters: Cindy (Ray) Hays of Wellsville, Jeannie (Kenny) Jackson of East Liverpool, and Sheryl (Gibby) Gibson of Wellsville; one brother, John (Linda) McCullough of Wellsville; and one sister in-law, Pam McCullough of Wellsville. Sarah is also survived by fourteen grandchildren: Ashley, Ayla, Nunzio, Kaylee, Avery, Preston, Jessey, Kristen, Alex, Leah, Sarah, Annabelle, Max, and Katie; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, April 28, 2023, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Crowe of the Irondale United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery.
