EAST LIVERPOOL – James Ross Schmitt, 76, of East Liverpool, passed away April 7th as a result of a tragic accident. Ross was born October 15, 1946, in East
Liverpool, the son of the late Paul and Ruth Anderson Schmitt. Ross attended Beaver Local and graduated in 1964. He attended Aurora College and worked as sales and marketing manager for Aurora Metals, Aurora, Illinois. After returning to East Liverpool in 1985, he continued to work in the field of water and chemical treatment. Ross was a member of Riddle Lodge #315 F&AM, and a 32nd degree member of the Valley of Steubenville Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite. He was a member and elder of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. He was a pilot and a member of Beaver Creek Modelers Flying Club and loved to build radio-controlled planes. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth "Beth" Wolfe Schmitt and four children: Lisa Anne (Chris) Gann of Gadsden, Alabama, Samuel Ross (Kimberly) Schmitt of Albers, Illinois, Kevin Paul (Joanna) Schmitt of Boardman and Amy Beth (Brian) Kavanagh of Columbiana, 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Ross is also survived by a brother, Gary (Sonja) Schmitt of Dania Beach, Florida, two sisters, Robin (John) Keough of Buckhannon, West Virginia, and Colleen (Fred) Waggle of East Liverpool, and his bonus sisters Valerie (Jim) Shifferly and Stephanie (Keith) Sevy and many loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Paul Schmitt and his wife Janie.
Calling hours will be Friday, April 14th, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, Park Boulevard and his Celebration of Life will be Saturday, April l5th, at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastors Margie Zellars and Tanta Luckhardt- Hendricks officiating.
