Maxine Sutherland

1931-2023

RITTMAN, OHIO - Maxine Sutherland, 92, of East Liverpool passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Apostolic Christian Home in Rittman, OH.

Maxine was born in Cumberland, MD on March 1, 1931 a daughter of the late James and Florence (Miller) Conrad. She was a graduate of Allegany High School in Cumberland and a 1952 graduate of Frostburg State Teachers College. Maxine was a member of the former Trinity Presbyterian Church where she was the organist for over 55 years and served as the choir director. She was a member of the Messiah Choir since its beginning in 1967. Maxine volunteered with the chaplaincy at East Liverpool City Hospital. She was a substitute teacher at Wellsville and East Liverpool High Schools for many years. Maxine had a passion for East Liverpool High School football and basketball and enjoyed spending time at many games with her husband cheering on the Potters. She also enthusiastically volunteered her time as the musical director for numerous musicals at East Liverpool High School and helped as their vocal coach. She was also a member of the Quota Club and served on the board of the Fawcett Community Foundation.

Preceding Maxine in death were her husband William O. Sutherland; son James F. Sutherland and sister Linda Wiseman.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons Jeffrey W. (Lian) Sutherland and David C. (Linda) Sutherland of Jackson Township, OH; five grandchildren James F.W. Sutherland, Ian T. (Hannah) Sutherland, William W. (Melissa) Schmidt III, Andrew D. Sutherland and Aaron J. Sutherland; seven great grandchildren; two sisters Carol Cline and Sally Rank; many nieces and nephews and special friends Dianne Wade and Carol Walton.

Friends may visit at the Longs Run Trinity Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 15, 2023 where the family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m. Rev. Dr. Stephen Cramer will conduct a service at the Longs Run Trinity Presbyterian Church on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. A private burial at Sunset Memorial Park in Cumberland, MD will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Maxine's memory to Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 online at www.alz.org or a charity of the donor's choice.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staffs of The Gables of Green and Apostolic Christian Home in Rittman for the exceptional care they provided to Maxine.
