Samuel "Sam" Burdine Sr., 80, of East Liverpool, Ohio, passed away March 14, 2023.
Born July 30, 1942 in Smithfield, WV, he was the son of the late Charles and Frances (Bacon) Burdine.
He formerly worked for Globe Brick and then East Liverpool City School, as a custodian and bus driver. He was a member and Elder of the Southern Hills Church of Christ. He also taught Bible Class and a Song Leader. "He was an all-around awesome guy."
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Leota Burdine and Nellie Burdine and a brother, Leroy Burdine.
Surviving is his loving wife of 56 years, Vonda (Ensminger) Burdine, whom he married July 23, 1966; a son, Sammy Burdine Jr of Paris, Ohio; a daughter, Loretta (Clint) Miller of East Liverpool; a grandchild, Matthew Miller; three brothers, Willard (Rosie) Burdine of New Cumberland, Tommy Burdine and Vernon Burdine of Smithfield; also by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be today, Thursday, March 16, from 6:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m., at the Nixon Funeral Home of Newell, where funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 17, 2023.
Interment will follow in Locust Hill Cemetery, Chester, WV.
