Ronald T. Hopper

1932-2023

EAST LIVERPOOL – Ronald T. Hopper, of East Liverpool, passed away Monday, March 27, 2023, at the Calcutta Health Care Center following a brief illness. He was 90.

Born in East Liverpool, September 25, 1932, he was a son of the late Thomas and Phylis Ida Toland Hopper. A member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1950, he first worked as a heavy equipment operator for Kenny Burt, Jr. and then worked at Crucible Steel until 1982. He was later associated with Murray Trucking, Chrome Deposit and Astra Rental which later became United Rental. Most recently, he worked at a gun store and the Roger’s Sale.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a staff sergeant in Germany during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the Glenmoor Sportsman’s Club. He was a member and past Worshipful Master of Riddle Lodge #315 F&AM, 32nd degree member of the Valley of Steubenville Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, East Liverpool Chapter #100 Royal Arch Masons, Keramos Council #95 and Pilgrim Commandery #55, the Osiris Shrine Club, and Ohio Priory #18 Masonic Knights of the York Cross of Honour. He was also past Worth Patron of the Crystal Chapter #18 of the Order of the Eastern Star. In addition, he was past Commander of the Glenmoor American Legion Post 736 and a lifemember of the VFW Post 6450.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce A. Winland Hopper, at home. The couple married May 28, 1951. He is also survived by two daughters, Robin Estell and her husband, Rock, of East Liverpool, and Randi Jo Carroll and her husband, Mike, of East Liverpool. There are eight grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. A granddaughter, Deana George Barton, whom he helped raise resides at home.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Ronda Sue Hopper-George-Cole, and a sister, Betty Lou Keck.

Evangelist Will Montgomery will conduct a funeral service Thursday at 5:00 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be conducted prior to the funeral. Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.

Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
