Ronald Lee Dorff Sr.

1940-2023

Ronald Lee Dorff Sr. passed away February 26, 2023. He was born in East Liverpool on March 25, 1940, a son of the late Harold Ross and Sue Pauline (Skidmore) Dorff.

Ron was a graduate of East Liverpool High School, class of 1958. He served in the United States Air Force as a jet engine mechanic and received an Honorable Discharge in 1963. Ron attended the University of Central Florida. Ron was employed at the John F. Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral Florida for 36 years, retiring in 2003. Ron was Supervisor of Launch Complex 39 facility pneumatic systems operations, supporting the Apollo Moon launches, and Space Shuttle launches to the International Space Station. After retirement, Ron continued to support the NASA Space Program as a Fluid System Consultant, working with the Johnson Space Center Safety Training Department located in Houston, Texas. Ron would provide specific, advanced, high pressure system operational training, necessary for the certification of NASA scientists, engineers, technicians, and contractor personnel, in support of future missions to the Moon, to Mars… and beyond. Ron enjoyed this role mainly because he was able to reside in East Liverpool or Titusville, Florida and yet visit all the NASA Centers around the United States to conduct the training and certification programs.

An avid sports fan, he loved the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns, and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was also a golfer and bowler. Ron was a Lutheran by faith and bowled on the St. John Lutheran team in the East Liverpool Men's Church League. He also loved to bowl in the Senior Leagues in East Liverpool and Titusville.

A man of strong character, he was a beloved husband, father, and friend to many. He is proceeded in death by his wife of 62 years, Marylee. He is survived by his sons, Ronald Jr., and Michael, his brother Stephen Dorff, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at North Brevard Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Condolences may be shared at www.northbrevardfuneralhome.com.
