Thomas E. ‘Tom’ Georgalas

1934-2023

 WELLSVILLE – Thomas E. “Tom” Georgalas, 88, of Wellsville, formerly of Warren, passed away Monday, February 6, 2023, at Jefferson Hospital in Jefferson Hills, PA.

He was born December 7, 1934, in Warren, the son of the late Steve and Doris (Early) Georgalas. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death on October 12, 2020, by his wife, Stella R. (Gullace) Georgalas, whom he married July 20, 1987. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Ellen McCombs, and three brothers: Robert “Tiny” (Mary) Ellis, Steven Georgalas, and James Georgalas. 

Tom graduated from Warren Harding High School in 1952. He was employed for thirty-five years as a boilermaker with Boilermaker Union 154 before retiring in 1996. Tom enjoyed fishing with his brothers. He was Catholic by faith.

He was a very kind and generous person. Tom was very loved and respected. When his wife, Stella, needed care, Tom cared for her like no other person could have. The two of them had many happy years together shopping, visiting family and friends, and going to Mountaineer Lodge. Tom loved to entertain with his many impersonations and jokes. As he would often say, “Here’s lookin’ at you, kid.”  

Survivors include two daughters: Lorie Rice and Cindy Joyce and their families; three step-children: Greg (Debbie) Brophey of East Liverpool, Julie Ann (John) Pena of Fishers, IN, and Kenny (Amy) Brophey; one sister, Jeanie Dolan and her family of Warren; one brother, Alex (Irene) Georgalas and his family of Niles; and one sister-in-law, Margot Georgalas and her family. Also surviving are eight grandchildren including Gina Garvey (Dr. Matthew Garvey), Dr. Greg Brophey (Joey), Lindsay Ray (Alex), Emily Pena, and JP Pena, as well as numerous great-grandchildren.                

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 12, 2023, at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville, with Pastor Mark Blakeley of the Wellsville First Christian Church officiating. Family and friends may call two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
