Ronald Franklin ‘Frank’ Nelson

1949-2023

COLUMBIANA – Ronald Franklin "Frank" Nelson, 73, formerly of Hookstown, Pennsylvania, more recently of North Bayshore Drive passed away Sunday, February 12th, 2023 at 11:19 p.m. at his residence following a lengthy illness.

Born May 22nd, 1949 in East Liverpool, Ohio, he was a son of the late Harry W. and Arlene Owen Nelson, Sr. A lifetime area resident, he was retired from owning and operating the former Nelson's Flower Shop in Hookstown after 45 years. Frank was a graduate of South Side High School, then attended Penn State University.

A member of the St. Clair Avenue Church of Christ, where he served as the song leader, Frank was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving his country during the Viet Nam Era. He was a past president of the Hanover Pre-School, the South Side PTO, the South Side Alumni Association and the South Side Historical Society. He was a member of the South Side School Board, he was a member the Hookstown Fair Board of Directors and was a member of the Board of Directors for the Beaver County Historical Society.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Lipay Nelson, whom he married October 17, 1981, at home. There are two daughters, Kimberly Talbot of Ridley Park, Pennsylvania and Amy Arnold and her husband, Justin of Poland, Ohio; four grandchildren, Nicole, Stacie, Kaidin and Kolt; two great-grandchildren, Anthony and Dominic; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He also leaves behind one sister, Ila Bable of Crescent Township, Pennsylvania.

Besides his parents, Frank was also preceded in death by two sisters, Laura Joyce Murdock and Charlotte Moore; and one brother, Harry W. Nelson, Jr.

Friends may visit the family on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool, Ohio. Evangelist Will Montgomery of the church will officiate a funeral service on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery.

Following the service family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center.
