Walter Paul Burlingame, 83, of Burlington, Kentucky passed away Friday, January 20, 2023 after a long illness. His son John was at his side.
Walter was born June 9, 1939 in East Liverpool, Ohio, the son of the late Lester A. and Jane (Boyd) Burlingame. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Faye (Poole) Burlingame, and his sister, Letitia (Burlingame) Giambroni, and a niece, Julie Hale Petricko.
Walter proudly served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Vesuvius during the early years of the Vietnam Conflict. He continued to serve in the Naval Reserves until he retired from the military in 1972. He and his wife, Faye, owned and operated Lester's Bakery and Johnny's Pizza in Midland, Pennsylvania from 1975 to 1986. The couple moved to Kentucky in the late 1990's to be closer to their son and grandsons.
Walter is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John and Heather Burlingame; his two grandsons, Jordan and Justin; his great-grandson, Noah (Walter's pride and joy); his bonus granddaughters, Analisa and Gianna; his brother and sister-in-law, William and Paula Burlingame; and his many beloved nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Elizabeth Hospice Care (Edgewood, Kentucky) or to the American Legion.
