EAST LIVERPOOL - William R. Board Sr., of Irondale passed away Friday, Dec. 23, 2022, at the East Liverpool City Hospital. He was 87.
Born in Toronto Feb. 5, 1935, he was a son of the late Frank and Ruth Marie Crawford Board. A resident of this area all his life, he worked at the former Swank Brickyard in Wellsville for 27 years. A Korean War Veteran, he served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of Life Evangelism Center in Salem.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Sargent Board, whom he married April 25, 1956. He was also preceded by four brothers and sisters, Richard L. Board, Ruth Ann Board Clutter, Edna Jean Board Cassidy and Patsy Board Zacharias.
Two daughters survive, Connie Bell and her husband, Steven, of Salem, and Teresa McAfee and her husband, Curt, of Lisbon; and a son, William R. "Bill" Board Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Irondale. There are eight grandchildren, Thomas W. Board and his wife Shelley, Heather R. Baker, W. Dale Board and his wife Janice, Alicia S. Board, Hollie Marie McAfee, Steven E. Bell Jr., Tiffani Ellen McAfee and Bradley E. Bell, as well as 25 great-grandchildren.
In addition, he is survived by five brothers and sisters, Frank Board of Salineville, Harlan Board of Hammondsville, David Board of Irondale, Linda Board Crews of Wellsville and Sandy Board Dorsey of Richmond.
Pastor Steven Bell, son-in-law, will conduct a service at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Dawson Funeral Home where friends may visit two hours prior to the service. Burial will be at Hammondsville Cemetery where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will conduct miliary honors.
Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
