Ronald T. Smith

WELLSVILLE -- Ronald T. Smith, 83, of Wellsville passed away Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, at Select Specialty Hospital following a lengthy illness.

He was born Feb. 24, 1939, in East Liverpool, the son of the late Thomas and Ella (Williams) Smith. In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death on April 7, 2016, by his wife, Georgia F. Smith, whom he married Sept. 14, 1963.

Ronald graduated from Alliance High School and continued his education at Mount Union College where he earned a bachelor's degree in science. He served in the United States Army as a combat military police officer from 1962-1964. Ronald was most recently employed as an industrial chemist for Alliance Tubular before his retirement. He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed hunting, especially on his trips to Canada.

Survivors include one daughter, Rhonda Renier (Ken Whitcher) of Beloit; one son, Kenny (Lisa) Smith of Alliance; and two brothers, Dave (Sandy) Smith of Melbourne, Fla. and Jim (Cindy) Smith of Louisville, Ohio. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Rachael (Seth) Blevins, Jeremy Noll, Corey (Tierney) Noll, Kelby (Zachary) Davis and Jeffrey Smith; and one great-grandson, Kael Ghersini.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 17, 2022, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Click of the Wellsville First Christian Church officiating.

Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park in Beloit.

Family and friends may call from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main St. in Wellsville.
