Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Marjorie "Margie" Grace Dye Garvey, passed away surrounded by family on Oct. 11, 2022. Marjorie, who was 88, is most assuredly celebrating a life that was well lived as a good and faithful servant, with her Heavenly Father.
She was born in East Liverpool on May 11, 1934, the daughter of the late George and Lillian Marshall Dye, and was a lifetime resident of East Liverpool.
On Oct. 8, 1951, she married the love of her life, Lloyd Kent Garvey. Together they always put God first in their life. She started each day with her devotions and ended her day in prayer. She was a member of The Living Well Church of the Nazarene in Wellsville. She believed that when you pray you must be on your hands and knees, and she did this each and every time she prayed for as long as she was able. She took every opportunity to share God's blessing with anyone she came in contact with. In her final days, the Lord showed her the way and he gave her peace. In addition to serving the Lord, she also enjoyed baking and crafting. She whole heartedly cherished her family and was a devoted mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Candice Weir and her husband, John, of Punta Gorda, Florida. There are six grandchildren: Angela Galloway and her husband Adam, Gretchen Simpson and her husband, Michael, Jason Garvey and his wife, Amanda, James "Jamie" Weir and his wife, Brittany, Carrie King and her husband, Pat, and James "Jimmy" Garvey and his wife, Kimberly; eight great-grandchildren: Emily, Morgan, Karah, Patrick, Parker, Stella, Kaiden and Collin. A daughter-in-law survives as well, Charlotte Garvey. She also leaves behind a sister, Dorothy Mellott.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her faithful husband of 69 years, L. Kent Garvey, her son Collin Garvey and two sisters, Jeannette Combs and Patricia Banfield.
Jason Garvey, grandson, will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022, at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marjorie's memory to The Living Well Church, 1620 Maple Avenue, Wellsville Ohio 43968.
