John Givens

John Givens, 73, of New Cumberland passed away Oct. 11, 2022.

Born Sept. 12, 1949 in Weirton, W.Va., he was the son of the late James Givens Jr. and Dorothy (Davis) Givens Richmond.

John was a retired pipe fitter from Weirton Steel. He was a member of the New Cumberland Lions Club and the New Cumberland Christian Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of the New Cumberland Hall of Fame.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen (Haynes) Givens; a son, Jason Givens; a grandson, Stephen Dulaney; and by two brothers, Ray and Tom Givens.

Surviving are three daughters, Michele Scarry (Jim Allison) of New Cumberland, Danette (Ralph) Jordan of Ohio and Lori (Brian) Conner of West Virginia; a stepdaughter, Jennie McGinnis of West Virginia; eight grandchildren, Ashley (T.J.) Crago, Justin Dulaney, Cody (Beth) Scarry, Miles McGinnis, Abby McGinnis, Tyler Conner, John Conner and Caleb Conner; six great-grandchildren, Caidan, Ava, Wyatt, Damien, Colson and Shelbee; two brothers, James (Randi) Givens of East Liverpool and Tim Givens of Florida; three sisters, Joyce Givens of Indiana, Debbie (Walter, who was like a brother) Burch of New Manchester and Barb (Wayne) Kennelly of Pittsburgh; a very special nephew, Randy Burch, and also by John Kell and Terry Chamberlain.

Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 14, 2022, from 3 p.m. until time of funeral service at 7 p.m. at the Nixon Funeral Home, New Cumberland, W.Va.

Memorial donation may be made to the New Cumberland Lions Club or the New Cumberland Christian Church.
