Jeffrey ‘Smitty’ Smith
EAST LIVERPOOL — Jeffrey “Smitty” Smith born May 6, 1953 of East Liverpool passed away, Friday, Sept. 16, 2022 at home surrounded by his family, even his ex-wife Karen (Lee) Yeager Smith Norris.
He was the son of W.C. Smith and Betty (Miles) Smith who preceded him in death.
Jeff was the youngest of two brothers, Jack Smith of Highlandtown and Steve Smith of Canada.
Jeff had four children Donavon (Pam) Smith of East Liverpool, Carmen (Cassi) Smith of East Liverpool; two daughters, Angela (Derek) Reynolds of Ohio and Jacqueline (Angelo) Bonnelli of Washington; and six grandchildren, Christopher, Donavon Jr., Austin, Sophie, Michael and Bryson, who he loved dearly.
Jeff graduated in 1971 from East Liverpool High School. He was self-employed as a Truck Driver Instructor with Midland Engineering. He worked for Fortis College CDLC, TDDS as Truck Driving Instructor. He was a self-employed truck driver and former fireman for ELCFD.
He loved teaching students how to drive 18 wheelers. Many of his former students kept in contact with him.
Jeff enjoyed his retirement from teaching by tinkering on his toys and spending time with his grandchildren. Even after retirement he continued to teach driving on his own time.
Jeff loved enjoying summers having campfires and picnics and watching NASCAR.
He will be greatly missed by many family, friends and students.
Private arrangements were handled by the Nixon Funeral Home.
