David Edward Schoolcraft

IRONDALE — David Edward Schoolcraft, 62, of Irondale passed away Monday, June 20, 2022 at East Liverpool City Hospital.

Dave was born April 3, 1960 in East Liverpool to the late Chester and June (Farnsworth) Schoolcraft. He graduated from Wellsville High School with the class of 1979. On June 14, 1987, Dave married Tina Nelson and spent the next 35 years making memories with her. Early in his career Dave was employed as a tool and die maker with Hancock Manufacturing and Fabrication. He later became the Road Superintendent for Saline Township where he worked until his passing.

When Dave wasn’t working, he had many hobbies. He was a lover of nature and spent his time fishing at Highlandtown Lake and hunting morels, a skill he began teaching his grandchildren. He was also a craftsman who enjoyed woodworking, collecting antique tools, and riding his motorcycle. Dave was a member of the Irondale Fire Department for over 35 years, faithfully serving his community. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church in Irondale.

In addition to his parents, Dave is preceded in death by: his brother, James Hess; sisters, Nancy Clark, Shirley Hartley, and Helen Weyand. He is also predeceased by his father and mother-in-law, Carl and Dolly Nelson, as well as his brother-in-law Paul Nelson and sister-in-law Jackie Hess.

Dave is survived by: his wife, Tina Schoolcraft; his children: Tonya (Andy) Wilson, of Wellsville, NaTosha Schoolcraft, of Youngstown, Paula Jackson (Rob Harris), of Irondale, and Brian “Brushcreek” Ruther, of Hammondsville; his six grandchildren: Tori (Tim) LaClair, Matthew (Elektra) Bowling, Cedric Athey, Chiara Schoolcraft, Cecil Schoolcraft, and Caelan Haught; five great-grandchildren: Maddoxx LaClair, Waylon LaClair, Hayven LaClair, Colton Bowling, and Holden Bowling; Dave also leaves behind his sisters: Carol Copestick and Nancy Dobbins; brothers: William Hess and Jeff (Nancy) Schoolcraft: brother and sister-in-law Charlie and Myra Striker, and sister-in-law, Cindy Nelson.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the MacLean Chapel of CARE Funeral & Cremation Specialists on Riverside Avenue where a last call will be observed. Funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. Dave will be laid to rest in Morning View Cemetery.
