Surrounded by her loved ones, Cheryl (Serago – Yanni) Barclay received her Angel Wings on December 20, 2021.
Cheryl was born September 15, 1948, in Cleveland, Ohio. She grew up in Lisbon and graduated from David Anderson High School in 1966. In 1980, after her parents relocated to Arizona, Cheryl followed them cross-country journey with her three young children; Jay, Scott, and Tia.
As a devoted mother, she worked tirelessly to support her family. After arriving in Arizona, she worked at Granada Royale, then on to SGS. While working and taking care of her three young children, Cheryl made time to study business at Rio Salado College. Afterward, she joined her father and two brothers working at the family business her father had established, Phoenix Tool and Gage, later becoming a partner.
Cheryl married the love of her life, Bill Barclay, on October 17, 1992. They loved spending time with their family, going out to dinner, their summers in Flagstaff, camping, taking their grandkids to Bearizona, and taking evening rides in the Ranger looking for elk in the forest.
This amazing woman will be remembered as an extremely compassionate and fun-loving person whose family meant the world to her. All of her kids' friends would call her "Mom." Whether you knew her as "Cheryl," "Mom," "Yia Yia," or "Grammy," you knew she had an "open-door policy" with a way of making everyone feel important and welcomed, always taking the time to listen, advise, and love no matter the circumstance.
Cheryl is profoundly missed by her loving husband (Bill) of 29 years; her children, Jay Yanni (Alyssa), Scott Yanni (Cindar), Tia Lizarraga (Adrian) and Chrishaunna Smith (Don); and her grandchildren, Alexus, Trevor, Abigail, Taylor, Isabella, Micheal, and Tara; as well as her three brothers Gary, Terry and Babe Serago. She also touched the hearts of many of her nieces and nephews.
Cheryl was welcomed into heaven by three of her angels; her parents, George (2008) and Venice (2012) Serago, and her granddaughter, Sophia Yanni (2007).
Her warm smile, twinkly eyes, and delightful spirit are painfully missed every day. Her tender love will live on through us, never to be forgotten.
