HERNANFO, Fla. -- James G. Shaw, 88, of Bluewater Drive passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021 at 5:30 a.m. at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Born November 3, 1933 in Chester, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Gilbert Orrie and Leah Loughley Shaw. He spent most of his lifetime in this area, moving to Florida after his retirement from ConRail in 1996. He worked for 43 years as an engineer on the railroad.
A veteran of the Korean War, he was a life member of the VFW Post #66. He also was a supporter of the St. Jude Children's Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley A. Shaw on June 28, 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Aquila E. Stone Shaw, whom he married May 17, 2003 at home. There is one daughter, Patty Miller and her husband, Rick of East Liverpool, Ohio; seven sons, Steven G. Shaw and his wife, Marlene of Tampa, Florida, James W. Shaw and his wife, Brenda of Calcutta, Ohio, Scott A. Shaw and his wife, Marlena of Fernandina, Florida, Michael T. Shaw of East Liverpool, Jason C. Shaw and his wife, Jennifer of East Liverpool, Bobby E. Roush and his wife, Wanda of East Liverpool and Denny E. Roush and his wife, Helen of East Liverpool; two step-daughters, Chevon Lay of Hernando and Alma Shouse and her husband, Lenny of Bronson, Florida, and one step-son, Harry Fitch and his wife, Cindy of Orlando, Florida.
In addition, he leaves behind 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Walker, and one step-daughter, Laurel Fitch.
Friends may visit the family on Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool, Ohio. Pastor Larry Rose along with Alvin Talkington will officiate a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
The Tri-State Veteran's Burial Group will accord Full Military Honors.
