Elmer Paul Swearingen

NEW CUMBERLAND — Elmer Paul Swearingen, 87, of New Cumberland, WV passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021at Stone Pear Pavilion Chester, WV.

He was born February 4, 1934 in Weirton, WV a son of the late Elmer Willis & Ruth Elizabeth (McAtee) Swearingen. He is also preceded in death by his wife Suzanne Irene (Hood) Swearingen (2006), and a sister Ann Chamberlain.

He retired from IBEW local #246 in Steubenville as an Electrician; was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of the First Presbyterian Church in New Cumberland; a member and Past Master of the New Cumberland Lodge #22 AF & AM, Hancock County Chapter #14 Royal Arch Masons, Knights Templar Commandry #30 Scottish Rite, Weirton Chapter #147 O.E.S, Osiris Temple Shrine; Osiris Temple Legion of Honor, Northern Panhandle Shrine Club; New Cumberland VFW Post #3526, American Legion #35 Steubenville, OH; and was also a member of the Shenango Valley Corvette Club and Grand Sport Owners Registry, and National Corvette Museum.

Surviving are his children Sheila L. (George) Hudson of Calcutta, OH and Alan P. (Linda) Swearingen of Dublin, OH; 2 brothers Hervey W. “Bill” (Patty) Swearingen and Robert (Dorothy) Swearingen both of New Cumberland, WV and 3 Grandchildren Troy Hudson, Seth & Kyle Swearingen.

Friends will be received Thursday from 2 – 6 p.m. at Turley Funeral Home.

Services will be there Friday, December 3, 2021 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Randall Krebs officiating. Interment and Masonic Services will follow in the New Cumberland Cemetery.
