SALINEVILLE -- Nicholas Alan Herda, 42, of Salineville died on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at the Oasis Center for Rehabilitation and Healing after a courageous battle with cancer.
Nicholas was born on August 22, 1979 in Lorain, Ohio, a son of Deborah (McElroy) Herda and Dale Herda (Janet). Having lived most of his life in the area, Nicholas was a graduate of Southern Local High School Class of 1997 and worked as a construction laborer for Mostella Construction. He loved his Cleveland Browns and Indians. He was also an avid worker of crossword puzzles. Even if a crossword had him stumped he would go back later and figure it out until it was complete.
In addition to his parents Nicholas is survived by a son: Creed Blake; a sister Jan Cook and her husband Jason of Murphy, Texas; two brothers: Ben Herda and his wife Kadie of Lakewood, Colo. and Matthew Duffield of Elyria, Ohio; an Aunt: Denise Baker of Aurora, Ohio and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, November 22, 2021 at the Kerr Watson Funeral Home in Salineville with Minister Rico Brown officiating.
The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Nicholas loved spending time with his son at the Salineville Kiwanis Park. The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made in his name to the Park. Checks may be made out to the Salineville Kiwanis and may be mailed to PO Box 85 Salineville OH 43945 or may be dropped off at the funeral home.
