EAST LIVERPOOL -- Richard H. Skelton, 86, of Park Avenue passed away Monday, October 18, 2021 at 9:45 p.m. at the East Liverpool City Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born June 9, 1935 in East Liverpool, Ohio, he was a son of the late Harry A. and Myrtle Shepherd Skelton. A lifetime area resident, Dick was retired from the former Crucible Steel Company in Midland, Pennsylvania in 1982 after 30 years of service. He later worked as a realtor in this area with the Jim Cannon Realty Company. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church at St. Aloysius Parish where he was a greeter and usher.
Dick was a graduate of East Liverpool High School Class of 1955 and was a member of its alumni association. He served on the board of directors of the Columbiana County Community Family Services. A member of the Knights of Columbus, he also belonged to the Beaver Creek, Ohio State and the National Board of Realtors. A lifetime member of the Tri-State Coon Hunters & Sportsmen Association, he also volunteered as a hunting education instructor. He enjoyed Ball Room Dancing where he trained at the Kinsey School of Dance.
Preceded in death by his wife, Wanda L. Cornell Jackson Skelton, whom he married August 4, 1994, on November 22, 2002.
Survivors include three daughters, Cynthia McGraw of East Liverpool, Ohio, Candace Richey and her husband, Allan of Washingtonville, Ohio and Courtney Jo Tice and her husband, Roy of East Liverpool, Ohio.
There are two grandchildren, Shaun Richey and his fiance, Danielle Barnes and Shalynn Cupp and her husband, Chad; and one great grandson, Willie Richey.
In addition to his wife and parents, Dick was also preceded in death by one brother, Harry A. Skelton in 2017.
Friends may visit the family at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool on Wednesday from 5 – 8 p.m. Fr. Leo Wehrlin of Holy Trinity will celebrate a funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
