James Edward 'Jimmy' Miles, 79, of Bradenton, Florida passed away October 11 at his home due to a lengthy illness.
He was born February 22, 1942 in East Liverpool, son of the late John E. and Gypsie W. Miles.
He graduated from East Liverpool High School and worked at Crucible Steel in the cold strip. He married his high school sweetheart after graduation and moved to Florida. He worked last at AT&T as an engineer working on laser panels for cellphones. He was a beautiful, caring man, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend.
He served in the Army as a communication officer. In his younger years he played baseball and while in the service pitched 'no hitters' while stationed in Korea. Later in life he was an avid golfer and became a caddy for several pro golfers.
He was a member of the Masons.
He is survived by his wife Sherrie L. Daily whom he married in 1960. Four daughters: Traci Hendricks of Bradenton, Tonya Terixeria of Coral Springs, Lori Soracco and husband Todd of Boca Raton and Leslie Abbott and husband Andy of Loxahatchee; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; two sisters: Gypsie Lee Walsh of East Liverpool and Eleanor Jane McKenzie and her husband Dennis of Rogers. Three great nephews survive as well: Rajma and Ryan McKenzie and Shawn Walsh and a great niece Jacki Walsh.
No funeral or memorial services will be held.
He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
