John (Jack) Bryan McDonald, Age 86, of New Cumberland, WV passed away at home on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021. He was born Sept. 23, 1934 in Chester, W. Va. to Vincent Angus McDonald and Mary (Bryan) McDonald.
Jack is survived by daughter Elizabeth Dicks, son Scott McDonald and son Grant McDonald and his spouse Debbie. He is also survived by sister, Janet (John) Kovalan and two brothers, Tom (Nancy) McDonald, and Michael (Marcia) McDonald.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife of 65 years, Marian (Ewing) McDonald, by two daughters, Becky McDonald and Marcy Dawson and by siblings, Jeanne Ann Gibson, Rita Herron, Robert McDonald and Richard McDonald.
He was "Pap-Pap" to six grandchildren, Zane Dicks (Beth), Mary Ciszek (Frank), Megan McDonald, Michelle Dudick (Tanner), Katie McDonald and Emily McDonald. He had five great grandchildren, Vanessa and Caleb Dicks, Jade and Danica Mumford and Bridget Dudick.
Jack attended school in New Cumberland, WV. He retired from Weirton Steel. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish. He was a friend of Bill W. for 56 years. Jack enjoyed building and fixing things. He was always happiest when surrounded by family and friends who gathered frequently at his home. A highlight for Jack was hosting the annual McDonald family Weiner Roast on the family property each summer. He was a good friend and mentor to many and will be sadly missed.
Friends and family will be received at the Turley Funeral Home, 109 N Chester Street, New Cumberland, WV on Tuesday, Sept. 7 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 1016 Ridge Ave with Reverend John Neiman presiding. The Rite of Committal will follow at the New Cumberland Cemetery.
