David (Bungy) Baumgarner
EAST LIVERPOOL — Dave (Bungy) Baumgarner, 66, passed away Friday, September 17 at the Ivywoods Healthcare Rehabilitation Center, in Boardman, Ohio of a heart attack.
Born in East Liverpool on November 7, 1955, he was the son of the late Irene and Ray Baumgarner. He served in the Army in Korea, and was honorably discharged.
Dave graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1974, where he was known as Bungy. He was involved in football, (where he was given the Defensive Lineman Award), track, homeroom officer, and the Varsity Club.
During his stay at Ivywoods he enjoyed playing the Blues on his harmonica for the residents and playing bingo with them. He looked forward to sharing many activities with his cousin Amanda Cebulak, who would come and pick him up regularly.
In his early years he worked at Ferro Porcelain Plant in East End where he played on the company softball team. He also was a “DJ” for a while and went by “The Boogyman”.
Besides his girlfriend Denise, Dave is survived by a niece, Jasmine Royall, and nephew Brandon Reece. He is also survived by half-brothers, Ray Baumgarner Jr. of Wisconsin and Mark Baumgarner of Lisbon, step-brother Greg (Bud) Baumgarner of Kentucky and step-sister Shelley Woodyard of East Liverpool, and many, many cousins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ellen Baumgarner Reece and 14 aunts and uncles.
Kinnick Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements of the cremation and burial will be at Tod Homestead Cemetery.
