Daniel Lewis Lyons Sr., 78, of New Cumberland passed away peacefully at home on September 27. He was born March 07, 1943 in Steubenville, OhioH.
A son of the late Charles Herman and Lillian Suzanne Kokochak Lyons. Preceded in death by his son, Paul Matthew Lyons, his brother Gene Lyons, his sister Pam Robinson, and brother-n-law Ron Stanley.
Surviving are his wife Carol, son Daniel Lyons Jr., his daughter Lynn Ellis (Danny Graham), and his daughter Becky Lyons; grandchildren Tommy "Tom" Lyons, Zachary "Bud" Ellis (Izzy Murray), Jake "Goob" Lyons, Holly "Holly Golly" Ellis (Stevie Cool); great grandchildren Lilly "Lilly Bell" Ellis, Malia Cox and Zachary Ellis. Also his sister Sandy Stanley, sister-n-law Nancy Lyons and brother-in-law Dave Robinson along with multiple nieces and nephews.
Dan served from 1961 to 1966 in the Marine Corps and retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a rigger and cable splicer in the Construction Dept. He was a member of Nessley Chapel Methodist Church, Weirton Steel 25 year Club, three year Commander of the Weirton VFW, member of American Legion Post 0121 and Marine Corps League 771, Comptroller and Life Time member of the Tri-State Marine Corps Club, and sang for 32 years with the Weirton Steel Male Chorus/Choral Society. He helped to design and built the Weirton Veterans Memorial.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct 2 and Sunday, October 03 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Nixon Funeral Home in Newell, WV. Military Honors will be conducted by Chester American Legion and VFW Honor Guard and will be held on Monday at 1 p.m.
