WINTERSVILLE -- Glen Franklin Potts, Jr., 48 of Wintersville, Oh passed away at Trinity hospital West, In Steubenville, OH on August 26, 2021, from complications of COVID.
He was born on July 17, 1973, in Weirton, WV, the son of Twila (Hawkins) Potts of New Cumberland and the late Glen Franklin Potts. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Olivia June Marie Potts and a son, Morgan Potts.
Along with his mother he is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Kimberly Dawn (Sole) Potts of Wintersville, Oh, sisters, Glenda (George) Campos of New Cumberland, WV and Fatima Lucas Of East Liverpool, Ohio , 4 nephews, 9 nieces, 2 great nephews, and 5 great nieces.
Glen was currently employed as a transportation driver with Weirton Transit. He was also employed at Timet from 2008-2019 where he also served as a First Responder/Fireman on their Fire Brigade.
He was a 1991 graduate of Oak Glen High School. After high school he served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Machinist Mate and as a fireman on the USS Pensacola-LSD 38 where he was a member of the Royal Order of the Bluenose. He had received many humanitarian rewards as well.
He was an avid sports fan and had enjoyed playing softball in a men's league. He enjoyed being outdoors fishing and camping. But mostly, he would be remembered as being a good-heated guy that loved to make people laugh. Glen was also a member of the American Legion Wintersville Post 557.
There will be a Memorial visitation at the Nixon Funeral Home, Newell, WV, Sept 2, 2021, from 5 p.m. until time of military services at 8 p.m., conducted by the American Legion Post 121- VFW Post 6450 Honor Guard.
