James U. Eynon

SEBRING – James U. Eynon, resident at Copeland Oaks went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019 following hip surgery at Salem Regional Medical Center for a facture sustained on Sept. 21, 2019. He was born Aug. 19, 1923 in East Liverpool, son of the late James Garfield and Susan (Roush) Eynon.

James was a 1941 graduate of East Liverpool High School. On Aug. 3, 1943 he married Doris Pauline Banks from East Liverpool. He then joined the U.S. Army serving in the South Pacific during World War II. Following an honorable discharge from the Army, he graduated from Carnegie Institute of technology with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering in May 1947. His career path took him and his family to Willow Grove, Pa. until 1970 at which time he moved to Southern California, where he worked at Hughes Aircraft Company in laser research and development until the time of his retirement in 1988. In 1991, he returned to Ohio with his wife where they remained, first in East Liverpool, then Salem and finally at Copeland Oaks in Sebring, until the time of his death. A man of great faith and an avid student of the Bible, he served variously as choir member, youth leader, Sunday School teacher and Sunday School Superintendent.

Survivors include his wife of 76 years, Doris Eynon; four children and their spouses as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service is being planned for November at Salem Bible Church in Salem.
