John Mackey
CANTON – John N. Mackey, 76, of Canton, passed away Sept. 11, 2014. He was born March 9, 1938, in East Liverpool.
A graduate of Kent State University and Stetson University School of Law, St. Petersburg, Fla., Mr. Mackey was a a practicing attorney for more than 40 years.
A US Army veteran, he was a lieutenant with the Special Forces in Vietnam (Company B 5th Special Forces Group ABN). He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Canton.
Survivors include his wife, Gwen; daughter, Jessica of Cincinnati; sons, Nicholas of Cincinnati and Jason of White Plains, Md.; three grandchildren; and son, George, and daughter, Sabine, both of California.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Renate; and his parents, John and Marylee Mackey and Virginia and James Turner.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Peter Catholic Church with Msgr. Lewis F. Gaetano as celebrant. Burial with military honors took place at Calvary Cemetery, Canton.
