EAST LIVERPOOL — Kayla Wiley has been named Scholar of the Month for December at East Liverpool High School. Kayla is the daughter of Mark and Amy Wiley and ranks in the Top 20 in her graduating class, with a 3.818 Cumulative GPA, taking Honors, AP, and Career Tech classes.
Kayla is a member of the National Honor Society, the National Speech and Debate Honor Society, and is a former member of the Tri-M National Music Honor Society. She serves as the Speech and Debate Interpretation Captain, and she served 4 years on yearbook staff, this year serving as Yearbook Editor. She was a Junior Representative for Skills USA, and is an active member of Gaming Club, Photography Club, Outdoor Adventure Club, and Student Council. Kayla was selected as a delegate to Buckeye Girls’ State.
Kayla has lettered in Choir and is a valuable member of the ELHS Speech and Debate Team, placing 6th in Dramatic Interpretation and placing 2nd two consecutive times in Declamation and placing 6th in Declamation for Speech and Debate. With these accomplishments and many others during her 3 years on the team, Kayla has reached a Degree of Merit, Honor, Excellence, and Distinction in Speech and Debate.
Furthermore, Kayla has served her community as a volunteer at the Community Learning Center, dedicating over 90 hours. She also volunteered 50 hours tutoring during online instruction, and has volunteered at the ELHS Alumni Association, and for the East Liverpool Masonic Lodge during the Christmas parade. Additionally, Kayla assisted with ELHS’s Christmas on the Hill. On occasion, she attends Campground Community Church with her family.
Kayla plans to continue her education at Ohio Valley College of Technology, majoring in Business Administration in the fall.
