Food for thought

“We love our kids,” said Melissa Adams, food service director of Lisbon schools. Tuesday, Adams and her team along with other district staff loaded up buses full of food to distribute to families while students are on remote learning. Bags of food included five breakfasts and five lunches for every student. One hundred bags were packed for curbside pickup at David Anderson Junior/Senior High School, and 100 bags were also packed for curbside pickup at McKinley Elementary. The district also has three curbside pickup locations throughout Lisbon. Those sites are the Lisbon Baseball/ Softball Complex, Roseland Apartments and the Juvenile Justice Center parking lot. Buses transported bags of food to these locations. “That is a total of 600 meals per day, so for the week 3,000 meals,” said Adams. The district offered curbside pick at both school buildings, as well as different locations throughout Lisbon when the schools were shut down in the spring. (Submitted photo)
