Emma Duncan named October Student of the Month

SALINEVILLE — Emma Duncan, daughter of Robert and Heidi Duncan of Salineville, has been selected as the Kiwanis Student of the Month for October at Southern Local High School. She is ranked 16th in her graduating class with a 3.905 GPA. She has been an Honor Roll student in the three full years of her high school career and was inducted this past May into the National Honor Society as a junior. Emma is currently enrolled in College Credit Plus courses. For extracurriculars, she is a 3 year member of the Spanish Club and a year member of the Art Club. This year, she is a member of the Student Council.

She earned a varsity letter in cheerleading this fall. Outside of school, Emma has been a BB Ranger Officer Assistant for BSA Cub Scouts Day Camp each of the past 5 years. As a 2 year student with McLaughlin Martial Arts, she has achieved the rank of purple belt.

In 2019-20, she was a PKC National Champion in weapons and was the 2019 PKC State Champion in sparring.

Emma has been accepted to Youngstown State University, where she plans to major in forensic science.
