EAST LIVERPOOL -- Gemma Messenger, a third grader at LaCroft Elementary, is one of five winners in the Northeast Ohio Young Entrepreneur Contest in the K-4 category. Gemma worked diligently to produce her product, the Splash Blocker, and developed and refined a short pitch, or commercial, that wowed the judges. Gemma, the daughter of Mike and Vanessa Messenger, will take part in a virtual awards celebration on May 9. Her video will be posted with the other four winners in her category on the contest's website. To reward Gemma for her winning entry, she will receive the following prizes: $100 cash, a Wonderboom bluetooth speaker, a month supply of a Coca-Cola product of her choice, a trophy, an idea journal, and a $20 Chipotle gift card.
