Cameren Grodhaus

SALINEVILLE — Cameren Grodhaus has been selected as the Salineville Kiwanis Student of the Month for December at Southern Local High School. He is the son of Danielle Grodhaus of Salineville and Phillip Grodhaus of Highlandtown and currently ranks third in his senior class with a 4.22 GPA. He is active in athletics and academics, earning a variety of sports accolades through his high school career.

He has broken nine school records in football and was also named First Team All-State, Northeast Inland District Player of the Year, WYTV Student-Athlete of the Week, AVAC Student-Athlete of the Month for September and Big 22 recipient, plus he earned First Team All-County and First Team All-League for basketball and 10th place at the district competition for shot put in track. He has also served as president of the Varsity Club, which he has participated in since his sophomore year, and has been a member of the National Honor Society for two years, class vice president and a member for three years, a member of the leadership committee during his junior year and a member of the youth coalition leadership group this year.

Grodhaus counts his family as his biggest influences and advises underclassmen to take their studies seriously.

“They should worry first about their grades more above anything else, because in the long run that’s going to help you succeed in life,” he said.

He hopes to attend college upon graduation and study medical law.

Braden Cartwright

WELLSVILLE — The Wellsville Lions Club has chosen Braden Cartwright as the Lions Club Student of the Month for October 2019. He is currently ranked first of the Class of 2020 with a GPA of 4.000. He is the son of Jerry and Anne Cartwright of Wellsville.

Among his academic achievements are the following: National Honor Society, A Honor Roll (four years), and 3.75 Honors Ceremony (four years). He has also received awards for excellence in Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Spanish I & II, American History, Chemistry. He is enrolled in College Credit Plus taking classes at Kent State East Liverpool while taking classes at Wellsville. He was also named outstanding Junior Boy and Junior Class President.

Cartwright has participated in many extracurricular activities including Varsity W for two years (current president), Spirit Club (2 years), Y Teens (3 years), He is also a member of Leo Club (2 years), Publications (2 years) where he is Co-Editor in Chief, Simple Acts of Kindness (2 years) and he is Vice President of Student Council. He was a Project Paws 8th Grade Mentor, member of the Youth Leadership Summit; Senatorial Citation, and a Delegate for Buckeye Boys’ State. He has helped with the Princess Ball, Youth Baseball, Trunk-or-Treat Program and was a donor for Central Blood Bank.

During his high school career, he was a four-year letterman in football and a four-year letterman in baseball. He has been named to the EOAC Academic All Star for the last two years.

He plans to pursue a degree in Biology at Youngstown State University or The Ohio State University.
